115 tropical islands, one place - Seychelles
Posted by Laurentiu - Filled under Africa

Seychelles is a nation of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, about 1,000 miles east of mainland Africa and northeast of the island of Madagascar. Of these islands 41 are granitic but only eight are habited. The major islands are Mahe, Praslin, and La Digue.
You can’t talk or write about Seychelles, you must see it. The Seychelles Islands has anything for everyone:
- top beaches: Anse Source d’Argent beach (La Digue) - one of the most photographed beaches in the world; Anse Lazio beach (Praslin) - voted “The best beach in the world” in 2004; Anse Victorin beach (Fregate Island)
- an amazing underwater world and top swimming, diving or snorkelling places: Ste Anne Marine National Park (six islands around Mahe); Sister Rocks, South Marianne and White Bank (Praslin); Desroches Island; Denis Islands
- excellent conditions for sailing, surfing and windsurfing
- top fishing destination: Alphonse Island (fly fishing); Denis Island (deep-sea fishing)
- good hiking and stunning scenery: Morne Seychellois National Park (Mahe); Valleé de Mai (Praslin); Silhouette Island; Aride Island
- two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Aldabra Atoll - the largest atoll in the world and home to about 152,000 giant tortoises; Vallee de Mai (Praslin) - a natural palm forest preserved in almost its original state. It is most famous for its Coco de Mer palm tree
- birds (a lot of species found nowhere else on earth): Bird Island - millions of birds come here to nest every year; Cousine Island - a private nature reserve; Aride Island
With temperatures relatively stable, averaging 29ºC (84ºF) throughout the year there is always something interesting to see or do, no matter what the season.
Peak season occurs in December, January, July and August.

The most important accessory which you have to bring with you on the Seychelles is earplugs. A good beginning for a journey report! Maybe I should call it â€travel impressionsâ€,yes, that will do. Concerning the importance of earplugs: birds, dogs, cocks and other animals make every morning at about 6.00 pm an unbearable noise. The tropical rain which rains down on sheet metal roofs and plastic-like palm leafs often before sunrise sounds like a train passing by.
